This is our most basic adult program designed to teach the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu. If you have any doubts or fears about starting to train a martial art this is the program for you! Our instructors break down every technique step by step and personally attend to every student’s individual needs. A strong foundation, just like in anything you learn, is the most important part of starting your Jiu Jitsu career and we emphasize this concept as much as we can. Basic classes focus on street self defense and the simplest concepts in Jiu Jitsu in order for you to develop good habits and more importantly learn how to defend yourself against an attacker. Upon completion of the Basics Program you will be awarded a Blue Belt. All of our programs are designed by Master Caique and Professor Pedro Elias, who combined have over 60 years of experience.
In our Basics Program you will learn:
- How to defend yourself against a bigger and stronger attacker
- Basic techniques, the foundation for Jiu Jitsu
- The basic movements and concepts of Jiu Jitsu
At a very young age, Helio Gracie learned traditional Japanese Jiu-Jitsu techniques from his older brother, Carlos. In the late 1920s, he began to modify these techniques to accommodate his frail physique with the objective of developing a system that would enable him to defend himself against larger opponents. After years of refinement, he proved his art's effectiveness by routinely defeating larger and stronger opponents, some of whom outweighed him by as much as 100 pounds. As a result, Helio's techniques quickly became the new expression of Jiu-Jitsu and set the stage for a worldwide revolution in martial arts.
Efficiency, the ability to achieve maximum output with minimum input, is a core principle of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. At the Caique Jiu-Jitsu Windsor, we assume that your attacker will always be larger and more athletic than you. Our students quickly learn that the only reliable way to succeed is to exhaust your attacker while conserving your own energy through the use of leverage-based techniques and natural body movements. In life, as in a fight, a student who learns to expend energy efficiently will achieve maximum results with minimal effort.
At our Academy a blue belt is awarded when a student has demonstrated extreme comfort in dealing with the behavioral patterns most commonly exhibited by an untrained (no jiu-jitsu) street fight opponent including punches from every virtually every position in a fight. Most schools award a blue belt to a person when they have demonstrated extreme comfort in dealing with the behavioral patterns most commonly exhibited by another sportive practitioner. Once a student earns a blue belt, then we begin focusing on dealing with more sportive scenarios as we continue to sharpen their street readiness sword, so that they are equally comfortable in street and sport scenarios by the time they get one or two stripes on blue. It's possible (and very common at that) for someone to earn a bjj blue belt without ever learning how to block punches from the guard, and therefore very likely to get beat up in a street fight when their opponent doesn't exhibit the behavioral patterns that their gym buddies so commonly do. With Caique Jiu Jitsu this is not the case. Self Defense is one of our top priorities. Self-Defense Classes
